As a Muslim, I have been taught that voluntary fasting (puasa sunat) is a form of the Prophet's teaching as it elevates a degree of piety.
It also means to abstain oneself from any form of lustful desire and temptation that could lead one astray. In addition it also reflects our inner strength in wanting to purify our soul. In other words, puasa sunat will bring us closer to God and purify our soul from all forms of contamination.
The Prophet always performed voluntary fasting on mondays and thursdays. Of late we hear of a group of people who have resorted to fasting to express displeasure or protest against their political nemesis.
It appears that they fast to show that they are oppressed. Fasting is the weapon to appeal to the masses. They fast to show that they are the product of the unjust system or the victim of an oppressive government.
I cannot imagine a time when they have not twisted and turned events to suit their "oppressive state".
They have managed to capture the imagination of certain ethnic groups, which, due to a long history of their oppressive dynasties, to perceive what they have manufactured as reality.
They are using it to their advantage to manipulate the masses to believe their reality until the core issue of the majority rule is totally overlooked by the masses. Having launched the hunger strike and "puasa" they are hoping to gain sympathy from the masses.
When religious scholars question the religiosity of the hunger strike as a form of protest, they camouflaged it as puasa sunat. But then this was the leader who had launched the puasa sunat complete with the head-band bearing the words "Bubar DUN. Mogok Lapar". (Dissolve the State assembly. Hunger Strike)
I was told that the hunger strike was only limited to certain hours and drinking was allowed. I wonder if this qualifies as puasa sunat.
But considering the huge publicity it was ironic that only small numbers turned up at the end of the hunger strike. The outcome for Barisan Nasional was inevitable as now the reason for their failure rests on BN and the police.
But then, who else?

Saya cukup seronok dan terharu melihat majlis ilmu yang dianjurkan di kediaman rasmi Dato Seri beberapa hari yang lalu, Dato seri adalah seorang MB yang dah lama kami rakyat negeri Perak harapkan!

YANG PASTI KRISIS DI PERAK AKAN DAPAT DISELESAIKAN DENGAN ADAKAN PRK DUN PERAK. Now we start refreshing BN members....their mind setting...our future plans...bukan sahaja ahli UMNO tapi semua ahli BN...kita lihat dan study balik dimana kelemahan kita...apa yg menyebabkan rakyat tidak puas hati dgn kita....dimana puncanya...dimana ruang yang menyebabkan kita dihina, dicemuhi, dicaci, dikutuk....kenapa pengundi memilih calon....adakah benar...mereka mengundi kerana calon atau mereka mengundi kerana parti atau mereka mengundi PR kerana sudah benci BN...we have to analyse this facts in detail...Dato Seri and the whole penerangan team....join the public...teachers...business people not only dewan melayu tapi dewan cina and india pun mesti di merata Perak ni....get more infor as to why they hate BN....adakah kerana fitnah PR atau memang mereka dah bencikan BN...cadangan nak bermalam di masjid tu memang baik...tapi yg orang kampung pulak jgn le dema tu beria ria menyiapkan buat persiapan....lets make things easy as it can....kita bawak van van dgn tilam dan bantal...tak salah pun...yg penting biar orang kampung masak sama kita di masjid...macam kita buat kenduri...lagi satu program program masjid ni kalau boleh least once...Dato Seri berangkat bersama Royalties...Tuanku RM is no prob for him to stay ...and lets rakyat jumpa dia personally...knowing both of you in person...sekali sekala tak pe...contohnya...kita mohon perkenan Tuanku RM bersama ke masjid di belah utara Perak...with good security...i'm sure Tuanku agrees...proper plan...biar rakyat jumpa Tuanku dapat bersembang di perkarangan masjid...and lets Tuanku be with rakyat lebih terbuka...its not easy but it is a good way...for future Sultan....macam AlMarhum Sultan Idris buat dulu...rakyat masak utk Tuanku....Dato Seri, what i'm suggesting is one of the way...menghubungkan rakyat dgn Tuanku dan Dato Seri sendiri as MB...anyway its up to you to decide...we do more programme with teachers in this state...let them tell you their greviances...and also...PIBG...parents yg memang selalu ada masalah sekolah anak anak mereka....and for EXCO Local Housing.....voters dalam pekan IPoh perlu kita lihat apa problem mereka selama ini yg kita tak perhatikan...there are a lot of problems that they wish to tell...even di MBI pun selalu ada tapi kadang kadang masalah mereka tidak dapat diselesaikan and it takes years....dats why perlantikan ahli majlis very important....whether can they perform or not...can they accept rakyat yg terang terang menentang depa...kami really hope for the best of you Dato Seri...me and my family all the way BN for life...insyaallah kalau ada program tido masjid...saya nak turut serta...
